Kiosk recharged

We had a desk crit with Prof. Anderson today. As always, she pushed us to really think about what we are trying to do. We did some more brainstorming and wrote a mission statement for our shop. We moved into the idea that the reason we like gifts to be wrapped is the excitement and anticipation that comes. It seems that the more beautiful the wrapping, the more special the gift is, even if it's not a great gift. Unwrapping a gift reminds us of the wonder that children experience. As adults, opening presents makes us feel like children again.

We're going to try to capture that feeling of wonder and anticipation that wrapped gifts evoke.

  3. That's a great baseline - the wonder and anticipation - for children and adults alike. It's funny, we have this tradition in our family - whenever all of us get together with our grandparents - my grandfather (known as 'Papoo') will put on this huge show opening his gifts! I mean he rolls around, acts silly - I mean, we love it! It started years ago when got his first video camera and would tease us grandkids about all the hoops and hollers as we opened our gifts. Since then, it's become more about watching him, but it's fun all the same. I think if you can capture some of that feeling in your kiosk, you will definitely achieve your goal.
