Recommended blog reviews 9/9/2010

I looked at all of them, but will focus my remarks on four.  Crack Skull Bob, Tommy Kane, France Bellville-Van Stone, and Andrea Joesph.

Crack Skull Bob was funny. He is quite witty and keeps his blog up to date.  His comments about his drawing classes are especially humorous, even when he makes excuses for missing classes.  His images are wonderful.  He has great control of his computer as a medium, especially since he said he was using 5 year old software on a 5 year old computer.  I especially like the lady in the straw hat.  All that light, like lace on her face, shoulders and dress. Very fluid. Well done.

Tommy Kane's art is perfect for editorial satire, and he also has the wit to go with it.  He should probably keep his sketch pages in the sketchbook, instead of tearing them out to post.  I could understand if the sketchbook were hardbound, but it has a spiral binding.  However, he has no reservations about drawing on whatever he can find at the time.

France Bellvile-Van Stone's blog seemed more focused on her art and less on her humor, but was really good.  Her cross-hatch technique is wonderful.  She is funny about drawing people at meetings.  I wonder if they know they are being captured. I supposed that's why they look like she is sitting at the back of the room.  I do like the new banner.

Andrea Joseph definitely has a thing for shoes. It was sweet of her to share her two techniques.  Using tracing paper is the better of the two, especially if you're drawing at an odd angle. I enjoyed her personal and direct writing style.

The best part of these blogs was that they were all posting on a regular basis and drawing constantly.  That is inspiring.

I guess that's it for today.  I'll be back next week.
